Toner VS Cleanser: What’s the Difference?
Two products often used in skin care routines are toner and cleanser. Do you know the difference between the two?
Even though cleansers and toners function to clean the skin, they both have different roles and benefits. In this article, we will discuss the differences between toner and cleanser, and when they should be used.
1. Cleanser
Cleanser is the first step in a skincare routine. This product should be used twice a day, in the morning and at night. In the morning, the cleanser helps remove residual skin care products used previously at night, as well as remove dirt and oil that can collect while we sleep. Cleansers also help freshen the skin and provide a clean base for subsequent application of skin care products.
At night, cleanser is important to remove makeup, dirt, and sebum that has accumulated throughout the day. This skin cleansing process prepares the face for absorption of skin care products such as serum or moisturizer that will be used afterward.
Double cleansing is a good facial cleansing method because it removes dirt thoroughly. You can do this with the following two products from the ULTIMA II CHR series:
- CHR Cleansing Lotion. A light facial cleansing lotion designed to clean dirt and makeup effectively, with the benefits of Bifida Ferment Lysate to protect the skin barrier and Collagen Complex to maintain skin elasticity. Suitable for all skin types.
- CHR Purifying Cleansing Gel. Transforms gel into cleansing foam enriched with Witch Hazel Extract and Encapsulated Salicylic Acid. Effectively cleans remaining makeup and skin dirt in the pores, and helps reduce excess sebum. Specially formulated with a blend of Oat Extract and Probiotics to help protect the skin barrier. The combination of Collagen Complex and Hyaluronic Acid in the content can moisturize and nourish the skin, making you wash your face comfortably without a dry sensation so that the skin looks smooth and fresh.
2. Toner
After cleaning the skin with cleanser, the next step is toner. A toner should be used after the skin cleansing process. Morning and evening, toner helps restore skin pH that may be affected by the cleansing process. Using toner can help refresh and balance the skin.
It is important to remember that toner is not only used after cleansing but can also be applied at any time during the day to provide additional hydration or refresh the skin. Some people also use toner as a preparatory step before using other skin care products.
Use a toner according to your skin type to get the best results:
- CHR Exfoliating Toner for combination/oily skin. Exfoliating toner containing AHA BHA that helps remove dead skin cells, cleans pores, and reduces excess oil on the face. It can provide cleaner and fresher facial skin. Skin looks smoother, softer, and glowing. Use 3-4 times a week.
- CHR Milky Toner for normal/dry skin. Moisturizing toner for normal and dry skin types. Enriched with Bifida Ferment Lysate to help protect the skin barrier and with Hyaluronic Acid to provide deep moisture for smoother and healthier-looking skin.
